Monad was created by former quant traders from Jump Trading who believed the EVM was too slow. They built an entirely new blockchain that is compatible with Ethereum but 1,000x faster. It raised $225 million from Paradigm before launching mainnet in 2025.

Monad uses 'Optimistic Parallel Execution' — it assumes most transactions don’t conflict with each other and runs them in parallel. If a conflict is found, it resolves it afterward. This is similar to how modern CPUs use 'speculative execution' to increase speed.
