Pudgy Penguins launched as an NFT collection in July 2021 by four college students and sold out in 20 minutes. After poor management by the original founders, the community removed them. Luca Netz bought the project for 750 ETH in 2022 and turned it around during the NFT winter by launching physical toys in Walmart. The PENGU token launched in December 2024.
